Information

On 20 August 2025, the Lusaka Agreement Task Force (LATF/host) and the Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC/co-host) held a thematic event at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

This event was held under the theme "Digital Public Infrastructure and Regional Command and Control Centre for Addressing Human-Nature Conflicts in Africa". Speeches were delivered by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife of Republic of Kenya, the Minister for Natural Resources & Tourism of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the President of Association of African Economy and Development Japan. Furthermore, with the participation of the LATF representative, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife of the Republic of Kenya, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a lively discussion took place regarding the value and effectiveness of this project.

Approximately 150 attendees from both within Japan and abroad participated on the day. This provided a valuable opportunity to introduce the overview and prospects of the "Digital Public Infrastructure" and "Regional Command and Control Centre" that LATF and RESTEC aim to deploy in the African region, thereby further deepening understanding of the project.

RESTEC will continue to accelerate the development of "Digital Public Infrastructure" and "Regional Command and Control Centre" to further promote the dissemination of remote sensing technology and contribute to solving challenges in the African region.
